Our last amazing breakfast at this Parador.
We took a taxi to Avis to collect our BMW & were given a Skoda which they said was upgraded!!!
A good 2.5 hour drive to Gijon along the coast cruising at 130km/hr and being passed by many.
Arrived at 1500 and settled in to another Parador which was much smaller and less elegant than the one in Santiago, but very comfortable.
We donned on our bathers for a walk and swim at the beach. When you see the photos you will see why we didn't swim! Had our best coffee so far since leaving Perth near the Town Hall on Major Square and wondered around the city. Walked 2Km back to our hotel along the beach to change for dinner to find the crowd had increased in numbers of all shapes and sizes on the sand!
Dinner at La Palacio overlooking the harbour. We couldn't believe the number of children and babies still up at 2230.
Looking from the window where we had brekky.
People were arriving on horseback into Obradoiro Square from the Camino. Taken from our hotel entrance.
The Parador was 2Km from the historical centre of Gijon. Walked through this lovely park.
The historical centre was at the end and to the left. Had our bathers on ready for a swim but were frightened by the crowds!
All shapes and sizes!
Even sun baking on steps.
Town Hall of Gijon.
Having the best coffee on our trip so far. Michael studying the map in yellow.
Interesting buildings.
In the heart of Gijon.
Cathedral built between 1896-1901.
Taken at 2030 on our return to the historical centre for dinner.
Taken at 2300 overlooking Gijon after our dinner on our way back to the Parador. The tide is on its way out and the beaches are finally deserted.
The corridor and living rooms at the Parador in Gijon.
