15 August - London

We have walked about 15 km each day around London. The sun is finally trying to shine today after many grey days during their so called summer.
We took off with Helen and Nick to their local Saturday market in the Duke of York Square.
Michael and I went onto the Portobello Markets which were packed. Nothing has changed since our first visit in 1976. Stalls of silver, jewellery, clothing and old camera stalls line the street with music being played by potential bands dottered about.
Hopped on the underground and popped out to a mass of people at Westminster underground lining along the steets for a parade. It's VJ Day today - 70 years since Japan's surrender near end of WW2.
Michael and Nick went to an English pub called Queens Head for a few English beers and Helen and I took a G&T and nibbles over to the private park attached to their apartment.
A delicious home cooked Morocan Chicken dish with wine and lots of laughter before bed at 2300.

Outside Helen and Nick's apartment. They are on the 2nd floor.

Sweet goodies at the market.

Tempted but thought of our waists!

Oysters £1 each.

Portobello Markets. Wall to wall people!

A snack instead of lunch. Potato crisps on a scewer.

Red telephone boxes are still seen everywhere here in London.

I was a bit cheeky amongst the crowds waiting for the parade.

Strolling through St James Park.

Piccadilly Arcade.

Entrance to the Burlington Arcade.

New tiled floor has just been completed in Burlington Arcade.

Mandarin Hotel where Heston Blumenthal has a restaurant.

Interesting architecture.

Queens Head English pub.

Girls in the park with their G&T's.

Then wine while Helen cooked.

And another in their lounge.

Delicious Morocan Chicken dinner.
