7 August - Santa Margherita

We tend to have brekky around 1000 then nothing until dinner.
Today we walked to Portifino from SM & chose the high track through the wooden area taking 1.15 hour. Welcomed the shaded areas as the temp climbed to 37! The receptionist couldn't believe we were walking. A bit of training!
Spent a few hours in Portifino a picturesque fishing village and vacation resort. There were many exotic looking boats in the harbour.
We window shopped as couldn't afford to buy there. Enjoyed a coffee each and 1 cold drink for €20 ($30)! Great wondering around before we decided to return by foot along the road taking 50 mins.
Enjoyed a beer at the bar and a swim in the ocean. I even gave myself a massage lying on the towel on the pebbles!
Meandered through the town centre taking in the atmosphere of the evening.
Found the restaurant Sal S recommended and managed to get the last table at 2030 for a delicious meal. Most menus are pasta, fish, lots of shellfish varieties and veal. We have struck some lovely wines not knowing anything about Italian wines?!
There were a few different sports being played which excited Michael - indoor soccer, basket ball and water polo.

People hire their chairs and umbrellas. €15 ($22) for the day.

Walking to the pathway to Portifino.

Nearly there.

Martino parish church built in the 13th Century and modified in the 19th Century is in the old part of Portofino.

The police moving a few boats on from the harbour.

Waiting for our coffees.

Starting the walk back along the road

This is a 2 way road and quite hair raising to say the least with cars, buses and motor bikes and people sharing it!

Many steps from the road leading to bathing spots on the rocks.

Or on their beaches.

Our hotel the Hotel Regina Elena.

After a swim, a G&T on our balcony.

Then we walked into the centre.

Our meal at Taverna del Marinaio.

Delicious veal and sole.
