26 August - Cleator to Ennerdale Bridge

Woke to a wet and windy day. Took us all a while to get ourselves decked out in wet weather gear, gaiters etc. by the time we left at 1015 the sun started shining but very windy. Off we went heading for Dent Hill through very pretty country side along a thick black forest plantation. The climb up Dent Hill was pretty tough but nothing like the hills tomorrow. The decent was amazingly steep. We followed the Fell (hill) along its edge which was very muddy and here I had a fall thankfully not hurting my knee as much as I had first thought. Cherry was very calm and with the help of everyone we continued on to Ennerdale Bridge and into the centre of the village where we found Shepherd's Arms Hotel.
Plough mans lunch and soup for some, beers all round then Bon, Jill and Di went to the Ennerdale Show and others rested up.
Drinks at The Fox and Hound then dinner at our hotel. Yes we did have wine etc even though we are starting early tomorrow!

Ang feeling on top of the world.

This area of the decent down Dent Pike was very steep.

Crow and others going down the fell (mountain) sideways.

Walking through becks (streams).

Bon having a cuppa- quite unusual!

Leaving the pub for our meal.
